OMG This worked! My 120 has been rotting for almost a year because of this shit.
I did some research on this and discovered/believe that the problem occurs when you try and sync a Zune to at least 2 different computers. This also occurs if you lose relationship with your Zune and have to re-register it to the Zune software. The relationship is stored within the registry and if you re-register the Zune software will invalid path/entries and thus creating sync problems.
thanks for this. Your fix didn’t work for me, but I appreciate the effort posting what worked for you. I was getting this same error message (and others), and what eventually worked for me was this:
somewhere on the zune help files, it said that if you’re getting this error, to sync using a back usb port rather than a front usb port on your computer, and the minute I changed to that all of my problems went away. Maybe that will help someone else who’s having this problem.
I have a blue 8GB, and I try to install the driver software, it finds it, and then it says “Failed” The device failed to install the driver software please contact Zune support. WTF it didn’t used to do this !!!!!!!
maybe if u uninstall zune from the device driver and reinstall again it might work. b4 my computer wasn’t responding to zune at all, and when i went to device driver it told me that zune wasn’t being recognised by the computer. when i uninstalled and then reinstalled, it was starting to connect to the computer. if that helps at all.
i have a different problem, i have an 8gb Zune and when i connect it to the USB port it starts an automatic update and after that it tells me – “your player has encountered an error while tryin to update to the latest software. please try to update your player again.” and shows an error C00D11CD=(( can anybody tell me how can i fix it?
