Here are the basics:
Make sure that all pictures, music, and videos are in formats Zune supports. The pictures that won’t show up are probably in the wrong format. The music that won’t show up is probably DRM protected. Burn those to a cd and rip them back into Zune. It isn’t legal but it works.
Audio formats for Zune:

You can add music from cds. Put the cd in the cd tray and open the Zune program. Click on disc>rip.
For Video:
WMV works the best for me but Zune will now convert mpeg-4 files as well. I’ve had the fewest problems with 320×240 resolution. If you bought the videos from iTunes or other online source you will need a program that strips DRM. If you want to add DVDs you should get a DVD to Zune converter. There are a lot out there. Just do a search for DVD to Zune and you will get access to a few free ones and several try before you by ones.
Pictures: jpeg format only.
Put all files in the folders you have Zune monitoring for music, videos, and pictures. Zune will look there for compatible, DRM free files and import them into your collections then you can sync your Zune.
Feel free to message me if you have specific questions. I’ll answer if I can. I don’t use IM so email is the best way to send me questions. I check my email often.

Kraze Kat already covered the general but here is a link to help you.
http://www.zune.net/en-US/support/default.htm
Go ahead and check out that link. There is a section for beginners (on the left getting started) and as you work your way through that then you can take it to the next level.
The advanced level would be deploying games onto the zune or developing games if that is your thing. The games which require software such as XNA 3.0 and Visual 8.0 to deploy games onto your zune. That is until they come up with games in Marketplace.
Basically if you take your music or media files and drop it in the zune collection folder the zune will recognize it if it is not a protected file (DRM). That is also that it is in the format that zune recognizes.
